Residents alleged that organisers behaved confrontationally when asked to lower the volume

Noida: Residents of Gaur City 1 in Greater Noida West have raised concerns over persistent late-night loud music and noise pollution from Radha Krishna Park, prompting complaints to senior police officials. The park, meant for recreational use, is increasingly being used for events with high-decibel sound, causing distress among residents, particularly at night.Residents said they approached the DCP, citing repeated violations of permissible noise limits. As per UPPCB norms, sound levels in residential areas should not exceed 55 dB(A) during the day (6am–10pm) and 45 dB(A) at night (10pm–6am).Highlighting the scale of the issue, Amarjeet Rathore, a resident, said, “There are approximately 6,000 flats in Gaur City 1, and this ongoing noise issue is affecting our quality of life. Events in this park often feature high-decibel music, clearly violating norms set by the Central Pollution Control Board and the Supreme Court.”He added that disturbances continue even during exam periods and pointed out that the park is located opposite a newborn care hospital. The issue intensified after an event on April 12, when loud music reportedly continued till midnight. Residents alleged that organisers behaved confrontationally when asked to lower the volume. They also claimed that calls to the ‘112’ emergency helpline during the disturbance received no response.Frustration among residents culminated in over 70 formal complaints submitted to the DCP office in Surajpur on April 15 under Section 152 of the BNSS. Complainants highlighted the impact on public health, sleep disruption and law and order concerns arising from disputes over noise.“Celebrations should be joyful, not stressful. The current noise levels are affecting public health and well-being,” said Yogesh Bhagaur, another resident.Following the complaints, the DCP’s office issued a notice to Bisrakh police station, directing an inquiry and necessary action.Residents said the park, originally intended for walking and jogging, is now frequently used for large gatherings, including religious events and wedding functions, leading to recurring late-night disturbances.
