Bengaluru: With Chickpet remaining vulnerable to fire accidents due to its dense commercial activity and narrow lanes, Greater Bengaluru Authority ordered an immediate fire-safety audit of buildings in the central Bengaluru locality to assess firefighting systems, emergency exits and overall emergency preparedness.Chairing a review meeting Tuesday, GBA chief commissioner Maheshwar Rao directed officials to constitute a special team of town planners to conduct a comprehensive survey of all buildings in Chickpet division. The team has been asked to identify unauthorised buildings, issue notices to owners and initiate action.Reviewing infrastructure projects, Rao instructed officials to resolve land acquisition issues delaying road works being executed by Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd (KRDCL). He also directed officials to prevent sewage from entering K-100 waterway by taking immediate remedial measures.
