NOIDA: Over 20,000 residents residing in several highrises in Sector 1 of Greater Noida West, including Ace Divino, Flora Heritage, AIG Royal, Antriksh, Krishna County, Bisrakh Gaon and more, face severe inconvenience due to a deteriorating road situation exacerbated by heavy monsoon rains. For the past two years, poor road conditions and an inadequate drainage system have failed to manage the rainwater effectively. As a result, the area is prone to flooding after every shower. After the rainwater recedes, the area becomes a sludge of slippery, muddy stretch prone to accidents and safety hazards. It was no different on Monday.The residents of multiple highrise complexes, including Ace Divino, Flora Heritage, AIG Royal, Antriksh, Krishna County, and Bisrakh Gaon, are expressing their frustration as the conditions worsen with each monsoon season. “Every time it rains, it turns into a nightmare. First, the entire road, which is muddy and broken due to heavy construction around, gets flooded for hours, and later, when the water recedes, the muddy sludge is left, leaving the stretch slippery and prone to accidents. The roads overflow with muddy water, making it nearly impossible for vehicles and pedestrians to navigate safely,” Sanjeev Pundhir, AOA member of Ace Divino Society in Sector 1, Greater Noida West, told TOI.Following Monday morning showers, the situation remained unchanged, with numerous roads flooded. The absence of drains further resulted in widespread waterlogging, leaving deep potholes and broken road surfaces. Residents state that these hazards not only inconvenience drivers but also increase the risk of accidents among pedestrians.Pundir has urged the Greater Noida Authority to take immediate action regarding the poor condition of the road near ACE Divino and DG Builder in Sector-1. “Waterlogging and the lack of a proper drainage system are causing daily inconvenience to residents. We have made several complaints to the Authority on the matter, but there’s no redress so far,” said Pundhir, who also called for a proper drainage system and permanent reconstruction of the road.Siddharth Shukla, another AOA member of Ace Divino society, urged GNIDA to treat the poor condition of the road in Sector-1 as a priority, as ongoing construction exacerbates the situation. “Due to continuous construction work and heavy traffic, the road here has deteriorated significantly, causing inconvenience to local residents,” said Shukla.Residents argue that the lack of a reliable drainage system in such a densely populated area is a serious cause for concern, year after year. “It’s disheartening that despite living in a developed locality, we have to endure such primitive conditions during the rains. Our safety and daily commute are at stake,” lamented another resident.While GNIDA’s response is awaited on the matter, residents urge a thorough inspection of the area, repair of the damaged roads, and a permanent drainage solution to manage the rainwater effectively. “We are asking for a sustainable solution so that thousands of residents can live without fear of flooding during the rainy season,” said Pundhir.
