PUNE: Investigators probing the Lohagad Fort murder case have found that Siya Goyal’s family decided to arrange her marriage with realtor Ketan Agarwal after learning about her relationship with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary and concluding that there was a significant financial disparity between the two families.According to Pune Rural Police, the Goyal family became aware of Siya’s closeness with Chaudhary during a community cricket tournament in January. Investigators believe the family’s concerns over the financial gap between Siya and Chaudhary prompted them to fix her marriage with Ketan Agarwal.As part of the investigation, police on Friday questioned Siya’s brother, Sahil Goyal, at the Pune Rural Police headquarters. Investigators are examining whether he knew about Siya’s relationship with Chaudhary and whether he had informed other family members about it.During custodial interrogation, Siya allegedly told police that she did not like her fiancé because he wore a wig. When questioned why she never told her family that she did not want to marry Agarwal, she reportedly said she did not want to hurt them.Police further claimed that Siya told investigators she believed plotting to eliminate Ketan by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort was easier than confronting her family and calling off the marriage. Investigators are verifying the statement as part of the ongoing probe.Reacting to the claim, Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, said his son wore only a small hair patch and that Siya and her family had been informed about it before the engagement.“Wearing a wig cannot be a reason to kill my son,” Agarwal told reporters.
