Hyderabad: Reacting to BRS MLA Harish Rao’s criticism of the Banswada hospital incident, govt whip Addanki Dayakar accused the former health minister of double standards, asking whether he had “forgotten the Ibrahimpatnam CHC incident”, in which four women allegedly died following family planning surgeries during the previous BRS govt’s tenure.Dayakar alleged that no action was taken despite the deaths of the women and newborns, and described Harish’s criticism as “crocodile tears” and “political drama.” He claimed that the Congress govt has filled around 15,000 posts in the health department over the past two-and-a-half years, upgraded govt hospitals and medical colleges, and restored public confidence in the healthcare system.Referring to the Banswada incident, Dayakar said an inquiry committee was constituted on July 13 immediately after the complications came to light, and that senior doctors were appointed to investigate the matter. He added that strict action would be taken against those found responsible based on the committee’s findings.He further said the affected women were shifted to NIMS for advanced treatment at the govt’s expense and expressed confidence that the remaining patients would recover and return home soon. He also challenged Harish to visit the families affected by the Ibrahimpatnam incident before criticising the present govt.
