Lucknow: To improve penetration of internet services in Uttar Pradesh, the state govt will sign an MoU with a private player to provide high-speed broadband connectivity in the rural parts of the state.The programme, Project Ganga, is aimed at strengthening digital economy and increasing the income of rural population. The initiative is being implemented by the State Transformation Commission.Officials said that the subsidiary of Hinduja Group will execute the programme, while finance minister Suresh Khanna will represent the state during the signing of the MoU.Under the plan, around 8,000-10,000 local entrepreneurs will be enabled to work as independent digital service providers.They will deliver high-speed broadband services locally, with the aim of making internet access faster and widely available in villages. The project is expected to create direct and indirect employment, offering local youth opportunities within their own regions through service delivery and related support work.
