Thiruvananthapuram: Govt will open five new minority youth training centres as part of its 100-day action programme, said minister for general education and minority welfare N Samsudheen on Thursday. The centres, coming up at Edava, Tanur, Guruvayur, Vellamunda and Changanassery, will begin functioning next week, he said. He was addressing the media after inaugurating the completed renovation works at minority youth training centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Karunagappally, Kannanalloor, Kayamkulam and Alappuzha in the state capital.The centres are part of the state govt’s Vision 2031 initiative to increase the representation of educated minority youth in state and central govt services. The department is also taking steps to open 13 additional minority youth training centres and seven sub-centres. At present, 24 centres and 28 sub-centres are functioning in the state’s 14 districts. Till date, 75,525 candidates have received training through these centres, while around 4,330 candidates have secured jobs in the govt sector, said the minister.
