T’puram: Vanchiyoor Police arrested an autorickshaw driver for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl while she was being taken to tuition in his vehicle. The accused has been identified as Sajeev, 36, of Palkulangara.According to the police, the girl’s father, who came to know about the incident, tried to catch the accused. However, Sajeev allegedly attempted to flee from the spot.The incident was later reported to the police, following which a team led by SHO Ajesh Kumar arrested the accused.The police said Sajeev is allegedly involved in around 18 criminal cases.The accused was booked under the relevant provisions of the local act, police said. He was produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody.Police are continuing the investigation into the incident.
