Panaji: The revenue department has initiated the auction of two vehicles owned by former members of the Morombi O Grande Tenant Association’s managing committee to recover the remaining Rs44.5 lakh allegedly misappropriated by the committee.The Tiswadi mamlatdar has issued a public auction notice for vehicles belonging to Nicolau Monteiro and Nicolau Nunes as part of recovery proceedings initiated under an Oct 2023 Bombay high court order.Of the alleged Rs 59.2 lakh misappropriated, Rs 14.7 lakh has already been recovered from two defaulting committee members from Merces, Tiswadi.Tiswadi mamlatdar Dattaprasad Toraskar said the vehicles will be auctioned at the Mamlatdar’s chamber on Aug 19 at 3.30pm unless the outstanding amount is paid before the sale.Prospective bidders must deposit Rs 10,000 to participate. The highest bid above the reserve price will be accepted, with the successful bidder required to pay 25% of the bid amount immediately. Failure to pay the balance within the stipulated period will result in cancellation of the sale and forfeiture of the deposit, Toraskar said.
