Panaji: Assuring LPG customers that the disruption in the domestic LPG supply has eased in Goa, authorities said that gas supply has normalised to pre-conflict levels. Gas agencies are delivering 10,600 domestic LPG cylinders on a daily basis, while around 8,900 customers are booking domestic gas cylinders per day on an average.Oil marketing companies (OMCs) also said that supplies of petrol and diesel in the state are sufficient, even as yet another ship with fuel is expected to arrive in the state by the weekend.
“At present, the OMCs are delivering around 10,600 domestic LPG cylinders daily on an industry basis in Goa, which is consistent with normal delivery levels prior to the onset of recent geopolitical tension and in line with current requirements,” said Sanjeev Gadkar, secretary, civil supplies. “Commercial supply has reached 60% of the earlier. Overall fuel supply in the state continues to be stable and sufficient,” he said.“The average daily booking of gas cylinders was 11,400 cylinders before the conflict, which jumped to 13,000 bookings per day in March. The present booking is 8,900 LPG cylinders per day,” said Madhurendra Pandey, the state-level coordinator for OMCs in Goa.Gadkar added that around 11,000 free trade LPG cylinders of 5kg were issued in April by the OMCs to support migrant labourers and students. The secretary also appealed to the general public not to fall prey to the rumours of any shortage and engage in panic buying.
