Nagpur: Three hardened criminals allegedly murdered a member of their gang by slitting his throat with a sharp cutter during a drunken brawl near Itwari railway station in the early hours of Monday. Lakadganj police have arrested the three accused. Lakadganj police said the victim, Abdul Rahim alias Ramyu (38), was a notorious burglar with a long criminal history. He was killed following a dispute over sharing the loot and alleged unwanted sexual advances towards a fellow gang member’s sister and mother. Ramyu, a resident of Shanti Nagar, was a known face in local underworld with cases lodged against him at various police stations.Ramyu’s body, bearing deep sharp weapon injuries on the head and neck, was found at the secluded Maldhakka spot. Officers rushed to the spot, conducted a detailed panchnama and began investigations. Initially, the body remained unidentified even after inquiries with around 50-60 labourers and residents.Police then used the Smart Investigation Management Based Application (SIMBA) tool to find more detials. Uploading Ramyu’s photo revealed his identity. His relatives, called to the station, confirmed his identity.Relatives suspected role of Parshuram alias Ishwar alias Pelu alias Pappu, Santosh Patel, and their associates. A joint team comprising Lakadganj police and Crime Branch apprehended all the 3 suspects within an hour. After intense grilling, the suspects confessed to the crime, said police. Investigations revealed that the victim and the accused were together involved in multiple burglary and theft cases across the city.Kalamna cops had busted the gang a month ago. Rahim was released early and allegedly did not share the booty. The accused suspected Ramyu of acting as an informer. Sources said the gang consumed liquor at Maldhakka on Sunday evening, but a spat occurred over past issues. In a fit of rage, the accused then overpowered Ramyu and slit his throat. A team led by Sr PI Mukund Kawade is conducting the probe.
