Nagpur: A teacher at a madrasa in the Tajbagh area is on the run after allegedly sexually abusing 10 minor boys, said police. The incident came to light after a 16-year-old survivor from Madhya Pradesh reported the assault to the madrasa manager. An FIR was registered at Sakkardara police station against the teacher, Atay Rasul alias Talif (26), a resident of Azad Colony, under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant provisions under BNS.Sources said the teenager arrived at the madrasa in Tohit Nagar’s Gausia Colony to study Arabic and Urdu. As per the allegation, Atay entered the boys’ dormitory around 3am in the early hours of June 18 when the teenager was asleep and sexually abused him. Atay also allegedly threatened the teenager when he resisted. The accused is also alleged to have committed a similar act on another boy who was sleeping nearby. When the matter was reported to the manager the following morning, he reprimanded Atay, but upon learning that a police complaint was likely, the accused fled the premises, sources said. Sources told investigators that Atay had allegedly assaulted 10 boys in a similar manner.Maharashtra State Minority Commission chief Pyare Khan told TOI that the survivor approached him and his team, following which they called the Women and Child Development Department’s helpline number. “An FIR has been registered and police are probing the matter,” he said.
