Patna: Bike-borne criminals allegedly looted gold jewellery worth around Rs 6-7 lakh from a jeweller and opened fire while fleeing under Sakra police station area in Muzaffarpur on Saturday night.The incident took place near Susta Pokhar in Rampur Krishna panchayat. Police said jeweller Anil Sah, a resident of Rampur Krishna panchayat, was returning home after closing his shop at Susta Haat when the incident occurred.Anil was travelling on a motorcycle with his nephew, Rohit Sah, when three motorcycle-borne criminals intercepted them near Susta Pokhar. The assailants allegedly brandished weapons, stopped the motorcycle and snatched a bag containing jewellery.Police said the accused fired two rounds after the businessman resisted the robbery and escaped with the loot. An empty cartridge was recovered from the spot.Hearing the gunshots, local residents gathered at the spot and informed the police. A police team rushed to the spot and began an investigation.SDPO (East-2) Manoj Kumar Singh also visited there. “The case involves the robbery of gold jewellery by bike-borne criminals and firing after resistance by the victim. Statements of the jeweller and his nephew have been recorded,” he said.Police are scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and have formed a special team to identify and arrest the accused. Investigation is underway.
