Panaji: Rajendra Gad, senior professor of electronics at Goa University, was appointed as the tenth vice-chancellor of Goa University and the second Goan.Gad told TOI that he is likely to take charge from the outgoing VC Harilal Menon next week.Satish Shetye was the first Goan to become the VC of Goa University.Gad was appointed as dean, Manohar Parrikar School of Law, Governance & Public Policy in 2023. Gad has also published two books including Hands on Experience with National Instruments Development boards and Hands on Experience on Altera Development Boards.A total of around 180 candidates had applied for the post of VC, and 15 candidates were shortlisted for the final interview.A search committee had to submit a list of five names to the chancellor of Goa University, who is also the governor of the state. Governor P A Gajapathi Raju issued the appointment of the new VC.
