Panaji: After almost two years, govt constituted the Goa Commission for Protection of Child Rights for a three-year term, with Sashikant Punaji as the chairperson.The other members are Snehal Salgaonkar, Sanjivani Dessai, Vibha Bhonsale, Shalaka Dessai, Esther Torres, and Sofia de Souza.Minister for women and child development, Vishwajit Rane, in a written reply in the state legislative assembly on Tuesday, said the constitution of the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights was “under process” and would be “notified shortly”.TOI reported that for the first time, the quasi-judicial monitoring body was non-functional, with neither members nor a chairperson appointed for close to two years.Between Jan 2025 and Jan 2026, 17 cases were received at the commission, Rane stated, and added that the cases were handled by the directorate of women and child development.
