Patna: In a shocking incident, a girl student was allegedly assaulted inside a school in Mahnar, Vaishali, after a man allegedly confronted her while she was on her way to school, according to her family. The incident has led to a police case, while the school headmaster has been asked to explain why the matter was not reported to senior education officials.According to the complaint submitted by the girl’s father, the accused allegedly stopped his daughter on her way to school, abused her and assaulted her. The family alleged that the man subsequently entered the school and assaulted the girl inside the premises. When people tried to catch the accused, he allegedly fled on a motorcycle, abandoned the bike and escaped. Dial 112 was subsequently informed.Mahnar SDPO Praveen Kumar, said on Tuesday that the girl’s father had approached police alleging that a man had abused and assaulted his daughter while she was going to school. Given the sensitivity of the matter, an FIR was registered immediately and an investigation was launched, he said.Kumar said the investigating officer had recorded the father’s statement and that an assault appeared to have taken place prima facie. However, he said the father had so far not mentioned any allegation of molestation in his statement.Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the accused and he will be sent to jail after his arrest, the SDPO said. He added that police had also learnt from the family that the two families had a dispute over an issue a few days earlier.Meanwhile, BDO Mukesh Kumar and Revenue Officer Pooja Rai visited the school and spoke to the student and her father. In-charge BEO Suman Sachan said an explanation had been sought from the headmaster for not reporting the incident and for not providing a clear account to senior officials.
