Patna: A 19-year-old girl, Bandana Kumari, was found murdered with her throat slit in Charne village under Rajeshwari police station area of Supaul district late Monday night.The incident took place at the upgraded middle school in the village, located around 100 metres from the girl’s house. Her body was found on the first floor of the school building in a pool of blood, with deep injury marks on her neck inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon.Bandana, daughter of late Siyaram Sardar and a resident of Ward no. 4, was the youngest among six siblings, including two brothers and three sisters. Family members said she had dinner with them on Monday night before going to sleep in the grocery shop run by the family at their house along with her niece.Around midnight, her elder sister-in-law went to the shop after hearing the child crying and found Bandana missing. The family then contacted her on mobile phone, during which she reportedly informed them that she was in the bathroom. However, her phone was switched off soon afterwards. A few minutes later, family members heard screams coming from the direction of the school building. They rushed there and found her body on the first floor.On receiving information, Rajeshwari police reached the spot, took custody of the body and sent it to a govt hospital for the postmortem. Senior police officers, including Supaul SP Sharath RS and SDPO Vibhas Kumar, visited the spot on Tuesday morning and supervised the investigation.Police said the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained and investigation is underway from multiple angles. The investigators are examining mobile phone records, collecting forensic evidence from the spot and questioning local residents in connection with the case.
