Gurgaon: A 14-year-old girl jumped from a third-floor bathroom window at Faridabad district court in Sector 12 on Saturday afternoon and suffered serious injuries. She was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment.The girl had gone missing from home a few days earlier, prompting her family to file a missing-person complaint. Police traced and brought her back on Friday. An officer said she had eloped with a youth and was traced to Punjab, though the girl told investigators she had gone to a relative’s house.She was medically examined and brought to the district court on Saturday to record her statement. During the proceedings, she told the woman constable accompanying her that she needed to vomit and was taken to the bathroom. The constable waited outside while the girl opened the bathroom window, which had no protective barrier, and jumped from the third floor, landing on a tin shed below. The loud impact drew the attention of lawyers and others present at the court complex, who rushed to bring her down before she was taken for treatment.Police said they are investigating whether the girl was sexually assaulted, though sources said she is not willing to lodge a complaint against the youth. A kidnapping case was registered following the family’s missing complaint, and additional sections will be added if sexual assault is confirmed. Police said the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are still being investigated.
