Ghaziabad: A property dispute angle has surfaced in the mysterious deaths of a 65-year-old woman and her son in Mahagunpuram Society under the Kavinagar police station area. Satnam Kaur was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Vinayak Tower on Thursday, while her son, Rajveer Chawla, was reportedly to have jumped 13 floors to his death on the same day.The deceased woman’s daughter, Simran Bhasin, who arrived from Bhopal, has raised questions over the circumstances surrounding the deaths and demanded a detailed investigation. According to Simran, the family owned ancestral property in Raipur, which was sold for several crores of rupees. Following the sale, Satnam Kaur and her son Rajveer shifted to Ghaziabad.Simran stated the family consisted of three siblings — Rajveer Chawla, Mandeep Singh Chawla, and herself. Their father passed away around 16 years ago while Mandeep died a few years ago due to a heart attack. She claimed that after selling the ancestral house in Raipur, Rajveer informed her that he purchased two flats in Ghaziabad in his and his wife’s names.According to her, both Rajveer and their mother possessed properties worth crores along with substantial bank deposits and fixed deposits. She questioned the possibility of financial distress leading to suicide.Simran further revealed that she spoke to her mother for nearly 25 minutes on Tuesday evening, during which Satnam sounded healthy and normal. However, calls made the next day went unanswered. When she contacted Rajveer, he reportedly told her that their mother’s phone was not working. He added that he was outside the house and would arrange a conversation soon.On Thursday, she received information about the deaths of both her mother and brother.Following the family’s concerns, police officials have assured a thorough investigation. A senior police official stated that the flat will be opened in the presence of the deceased woman’s daughter and Rajveer’s wife. Police will search for a suicide note and collect other evidence from the scene. The mobile phones of the deceased will also be examined as part of the investigation.“There is no concrete evidence in the case as of now. The autopsy reports do not conclude anything, following which the viscera has been preserved. It is believed that the man jumped to his death following his mother’s death due to illness,” the officer revealed.
