Gaya: District administration has selected a logo for Pitripaksh Mela 2026 through a public design competition, with local designer Gaurav Kumar’s entry emerging as the winning design among 104 submissions.A total of 104 entries were received from across backgrounds, with a strong response from students and young artists. After scrutiny, 10 designs were shortlisted.District magistrate Shashank Shubhankar on Thursday felicitated the top 10 participants with certificates and mementoes at a function held at the collectorate. The shortlisted logos were also displayed at the event.Announcing the results, the DM said Gaurav Kumar’s design had been selected as the official logo for Pitripaksh Mela 2026. The remaining nine shortlisted designs would also be used as part of the administration’s promotional and awareness campaigns for the annual spiritual event.Describing the initiative as a step towards greater public participation, Shubhankar said Pitripaksh Mela was not only the identity of Gaya but also one of the country’s most significant spiritual gatherings, attracting devotees from across India and abroad. Involving local talent in designing the logo had made the event more inclusive while providing a platform for creative minds to contribute to a globally recognised religious event.He praised the creativity and artistic skills displayed by the participants, particularly students, and encouraged them to continue taking part in social and creative initiatives.The top 10 participants were Gaurav Kumar (design professional, Gaya), Santosh Kumar (teacher, Rangalal High School, Gaya), Kumari Vaishnavi (Anugrah Kanya High School, Gaya), Sahzeb Kalam (Upgraded High School, Birhut, Bodh Gaya), Nisha Rani (Jhikatia High School, Bodh Gaya), Mrityunjay Vishwakarma (+2 District High School, Gaya), Anish Kumar (Mahavir Inter School, Gaya), Chahat Vats (Sanyas Ashram Shyam Babu School, Manpur), Ramesh V K (ISRO scientist) and Ranjit Kumar (design professional, New Delhi).
