Guwahati: Gauhati University’s NSS Cell and Red Ribbon Club marked Swachhata Pakhwada with a campus cleanliness drive.The programme, organised under the aegis of Surujmukhi and NRL, sought to promote hygiene, environmental sustainability and community participation among students and NSS volunteers.Volunteers cleaned public spaces on the campus and held an awareness campaign on proper waste disposal, plastic-free practices and maintaining a clean environment.Registrar Prof. Utpal Sarma, the chief guest, said cleanliness was not just an individual responsibility but a collective social commitment. He urged students and NSS volunteers to help keep the campus clean and motivate society through their actions.

Ranjan Kr. Kakati, secretary, University Classes, and programme coordinator, NSS, highlighted the role of volunteers in promoting sanitation, waste management and environmental conservation.Hemanta Dutta, secretary, Surujmukhi, and Pallav Hazarika, assistant director, YS, Assam State AIDS Control Society, also stressed the importance of community participation in protecting the environment.
