Chatra: Five members of the banned Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), a breakaway faction of CPI (Maoist), were arrested from Benti Maidan area in Chatra district, police said on Wednesday.After police received a tip-off about members of the Sudarshanji gang assembling in the area to plot some crime, a team was formed under the supervision of Tandwa SDPO Prabhat Ranjan Barwar. The team apprehended five suspects and recovered one country-made pistol, two live 7.62 mm cartridges, 10 pamphlets of the outfit, a stolen motorcycle and six mobile phones from their possession.The accused were identified as Surendra Kumar alias Lambu, 20, Ashok Kumar Ganju, 21, Harish Mahto, 25, Suraj Kumar Bhuiyan, 24, and Ronit Kumar Ganju, 19, all residents of Piparwar and adjoining areas. “The gang is suspected to be involved in a firing incident at the house of Mahendra Ganju on March 11. Further investigation is underway. Raids are on to nab other associates,” he said.
