Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Nani’s request to chief minister A Revanth Reddy for permission to watch the premiere of his upcoming film The Paradise with his fans at a theatre in RTC X Roads has hit a police hurdle, with authorities citing crowd-management and security concerns.On Tuesday, Nani appealed to the chief minister on X, saying he wanted to watch the Sept 23 premiere with the audience at RTC X Roads, a venue he said held a special place in Hyderabad’s cinema culture.“This is a request from a fan of cinema and, more importantly, someone who has enjoyed cinema at its very best from a very young age. For me, cinema has always been about watching it together with people who love it just as much as I do. And in Hyderabad, that experience has a special place at RTC X Roads,” Nani posted.He added: “I would love to visit a theatre at RTC X Roads for the #TheParadise premiere show (23rd Sept) and experience the film with our audience, the very people we made it for.”Nani tagged chief minister Revanth Reddy, minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Telangana police in his post.The chief minister’s official handle responded, appreciating Nani’s respect for safety guidelines, and asked him to submit an official application to the designated local police station. The handle said the concerned police team would review the request and take a decision.Director general of police CV Anand subsequently referred to the stampede during the Pushpa 2 premiere at Sandhya Theatre and said city police were currently preoccupied with bandobust arrangements for the Ganesh immersion. He said a discussion would be held with Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar to assess whether providing security for Nani’s visit was feasible.On Wednesday, Nani said he understood the police department’s concerns and would abide by its final decision.“We completely understand the importance of public safety, especially with the Ganesh Nimarjanam arrangements. We would not want to add any burden to the police department or cause any inconvenience to the ongoing arrangements. We will respect and abide by the final decision of the police department,” he posted.Nani added that if there were any safety or crowd-management concerns, he would understand and be willing to skip the visit.
