MUMBAI: Vehicles carrying Ganesh devotees to Konkan during the upcoming Ganesh festival will be exempted from paying toll, the Maharashtra government announced on Tuesday.The exemption will be applicable from September 11 to 27 at toll plazas on Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway No. 48, Mumbai-Goa National Highway No 66 and other roads leading to Konkan, according to an official release.Vehicles travelling to Konkan via the Atal Setu will also be eligible for the toll exemption, news agency PTI reported.Every year, lakhs of people from Mumbai, Thane, Pune and other cities across Maharashtra travel to their native villages in Konkan to celebrate the Ganesh festival.Devotees can obtain special stickers or passes bearing the inscription “Ganeshotsav 2026 Konkan Darshan” from police stations, traffic police posts and RTO offices.The passes will also remain valid for the return journey, PTI reported.Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses travelling from various districts of the state towards Konkan for Ganeshotsav will also be eligible for the toll exemption.Ganeshotsav will begin on September 14 and continue for 10 days.(With agency inputs)
