Srinagar, July 19: Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir on Monday said his party fully supports the demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and backs every democratic initiative aimed at achieving it, but termed the recent protest march at Jantar Mantar “ill-timed.”
In a post on X, Mir said the protest was a step to register the demand for the restoration of statehood.
He said the Apni Party was keen to see statehood restored and supported every move in that direction.
However, he said the timing of the protest was not appropriate, as another major issue was already unfolding at Jantar Mantar, which overshadowed the statehood demand.
“The protest march at Jantar Mantar for granting statehood was a step to register the demand. Apni Party is keen to get the statehood and supports every move. The move proved ill-timed. Knowing at Jantar Mantar there was already a big issue in which the statehood demand got eclipsed,” Mir said in his post.
