Gurgaon residents have a deadline of Tuesday to settle property tax and water bills.

GURGAON: Residents have until Tuesday to clear pending property tax and water bills. From April 1, with the start of the new financial year, unpaid property tax will attract 18% annual interest and overdue water bills will carry a surcharge.To facilitate last-minute payments, MCG has decided to keep all concerned corporation offices open on Tuesday despite the holiday so that residents can clear their pending bills. Officials said consumers who fail to deposit their dues by the deadline will have to bear additional financial burden in the form of penalties.MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya urged residents to make timely payments to avoid interest and surcharge. He said timely collection of taxes also helps the civic body speed up development works in the city.Officials said the payment facility is available through both online and offline modes. Residents can deposit their bills at nearby corporation offices or pay through the civic body’s online portal. The civic body also appealed to residents to cooperate by clearing their dues on time and contributing to the city’s development and upkeep.For the 2026-27 FY, MCG has set a target of Rs 325 crore for revenue from property tax. It is an increase of 18% compared to the 2025-26 FY income projections from property tax. This year, MCG and MCM also introduced artificial intelligence (AI) to boost property tax revenue. Using AI, residents with outstanding dues are being identified and approached, their queries resolved, and assistance provided in paying pending taxes, said officials. The civic body also intensified its drive against property tax defaulters by sealing the properties and disconnecting water and sewerage connections.
