Patna: Legal troubles for Belsand (Sitamarhi) MLA Amit Kumar Ranu have deepened, with fresh FIRs registered against him and his associates in two separate land dispute cases, while hearings in eight older cases linked to the demolition of houses and boundary walls have been shifted to the special MP-MLA court.In one fresh case, retired junior secretary of the department of science and technology Vijay Kumar alleged his land in Shahbazpur Salem village was targeted for illegal takeover through forged documents and a fake sale deed. An FIR was registered against Ranu, his brother Abhinav Kumar, Mushahari circle officer Mahendra Shukla and five others.The disputed property, estimated at around Rs 15 crore, was allegedly sought to be transferred through fabricated documents. Vijay alleged land recorded in his grandfather Yogendra Shahi’s name was subjected to a fake sale deed and subsequent mutation.In another case, Brahmpura police registered an FIR against Ranu, his brother Sonu Singh and three others over allegations of withholding Rs 31 lakh from a land transaction. Asha Devi alleged seven decimals of her land, valued at Rs 35 lakh in 2022, was registered after she received only Rs 4 lakh, with the remaining amount promised later.The developments come amid the Jhaphan Udandih land dispute, where boundary walls and semi-constructed houses were allegedly demolished on Aug 20. Of 25 cases registered, eight name Ranu as an accused and will now be heard by the special MP-MLA court.Muzaffarpur SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra said statements of three complainants in the demolition cases were recorded in court on Saturday and kept sealed. Police have also intensified action against the MLA and his associates in other cases.
