Times News NetworkKanpur: A four-year-old child died after a speeding brick-laden truck hit him on Mughal Road near Budhauli village in the Sikandra police station area of Kanpur Dehat district on Friday afternoon, prompting family members and villagers to block the road demanding strict action.The accident occurred at around 2 pm on Friday when Ankush, son of Anshul Nat, a resident of Budhauli, was playing on the roadside of Mughal Road. Anshul Nat said the truck, which came from the direction of Rajpur, ran over the child, leading to his death on the spot.After the incident, agitated family members and villagers placed the body in front of the truck and blocked the road. Traffic on the route was disrupted as the family, including the child’s mother Babu, brother Ankit and sister Sanjana, remained adamant about action.Police reached the spot, pacified the people, took the body into custody and sent it for postmortem. Villagers also surrounded and caught the truck driver as he tried to flee and handed him over to the police.Station House Officer Sudhakar Singh said that the driver has been taken into custody and is being questioned, and as soon as a written complaint is received from the family, an FIR will be registered under relevant sections and further legal action will be taken. Police officials assured the family of action, after which the roadblock was cleared.
