Ahraura police in Mirzapur district arrested four liquor thieves following an encounter near Vanasthali forest on Sonbhadra road late on Wednesday. Mirzapur SP Aparna Rajat Kaushik on Thursday said two criminals identified as Karan Bind and Ganga Ram Bind suffered bullet injuries in their legs in the encounter. After recovering two pistols, cartridges, a pickup vehicle, 36 crates containing 1,595 packs of country liquor and Rs 68,100 cash , police rushed them to hospital. During interrogation, the accused divulged names of their aides—Aryan Yadav and Rambharose Sahani— who were also arrested. During the search of their car, 4 crates containing 180 packets of country liquor and Rs 27,200 cash were seized. They confessed that recently they broke into a country liquor shop in Sonpur village and stole liquor and cash. They were heading to Sonbhadra in the pickup van and car to sell the same.
