Chennai: A 17-year-old girl was gang raped by four men near Kundrathur on Thursday night.The victim had failed her Class XII examinations this year and had been attending coaching sessions at the school, ahead of supplementary exams, for the last month, police said. When she came home late and tired on Thursday night, her mother asked where she had been. The girl told her that she was raped by four people when she went to meet her friend.They took her to a nearby govt hospital where she underwent tests. Her parents lodged a complaint at SRMC police station.According to police, the victim had gone to check on a social media acquaintance, Mohammad, near Kundrathur, after he told her he was unwell. Two of his associates, on the pretext of dropping her home, took her to isolated stretches near Mangadu and Gerugambakkam, where they and two others raped her. The accused later dropped her near her home and fled.Police detained six people and arrested a 20-year-old man from Kundrathur. He has been booked on the charges of rape and has been remanded in judicial custody.They are questioning five others to find out their involvement.
