Ahmedabad: The southwest monsoon stalled at Surat for the third consecutive day, leaving Ahmedabad with cloudy weather but minimal relief. Only six talukas across Gujarat recorded 1mm or more rainfall by 8pm.Ahmedabad endured a scorching day as the maximum temperature hit 40.7°C (3.9 degrees above normal), while the minimum settled at 29.3°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a high of around 41°C for Saturday with no major temperature shifts expected.Currently, an upper air cyclonic circulation is active over north Gujarat and Saurashtra. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rain for several areas, particularly in south Gujarat districts.By 8 pm, Rapar in Kutch recorded the highest rainfall at 12mm, followed by Bhesan (Junagadh) and Vapi (Valsad) with 9mm each. Vallabh Vidyanagar recorded the state’s highest maximum temperature at 41.3°C, followed by Ahmedabad (40.7°C), Surendranagar (40.3°C), and Gandhinagar (40.2°C).
