Noida: Four people were arrested for allegedly cheating job seekers by offering fake jobs in a private airline and collecting registration and processing fees from them, police said on Sunday.The accused are Sudesh Singh (36) and his brother Brijesh Singh (38), both from Mainpuri, Ashok Singh (24) of Trilokpuri in Delhi, and Sandeep Kumar Tiwari of Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Police said Tiwari had worked with SpiceJet before leaving the airline a year ago.According to police, Sudesh, Brijesh and Tiwari operated a fake recruitment call centre from a rented office in Sector 2, Noida, while living in New Ashok Nagar in Delhi. Ashok allegedly arranged documents used to open mule bank accounts into which victims transferred money.Manisha Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police, said the gang came under the scanner after police detected suspicious transactions linked to bank accounts under the jurisdiction of Phase 2 police station through the national cyber crime reporting portal.Police recovered eight mobile phones, a laptop, 13 SIM cards, nine debit cards, three passbooks linked to mule accounts and three UPI soundboxes from the accused.According to police, the accused obtained the details of unemployed people from various websites and contacted them with offers of jobs as ground staff in SpiceJet. After gaining their trust, they allegedly sent forged appointment letters and collected registration or processing charges.Police said the money was routed through mule bank accounts. The accused allegedly destroyed SIM cards after use and procured new ones by paying economically weaker individuals to obtain connections in their names.A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the BNS and the IT Act. Police said bank transactions indicate the alleged fraud runs into crores of rupees, and efforts are underway to identify all victims.
