Patna: Four persons were arrested in Saran district on Wednesday in connection with the assault of a woman by a mob on suspicion of child theft. She was brutally beaten and her clothes were torn at Dhanuki Dalit Tola in the Panapur police station area.The woman was caught by locals and attacked with sticks and rods on Feb 16. A video of the assault shows her lying on the ground while several men beat her as others looked on. Police registered an FIR and arrested four suspects, including two minors. The woman’s condition was reported to be stable.Locals gathered at the scene, but no one intervened to stop the assault. The incident triggered outrage, with demands for strict action against those involved.According to police, the victim was roaming near Dhanuki Tola on Tuesday when some local residents caught her on suspicion of being a child lifter. Soon after, a crowd gathered at the spot. Some individuals surrounded her and began beating her mercilessly with sticks and rods.A video of the incident later surfaced. In the footage, the woman is seen lying on the ground while young men continuously assault her. During the attack, her clothes were torn.Panapur SHO Raja Ram said, “An FIR was registered after receiving information about the incident. Four accused were arrested, two of whom are minors. Raids are being continuously conducted to arrest the other people involved on the basis of the viral video. The woman’s condition is normal.”
