SONIPAT: Dilip Singh Panwar, father of former Sonipat MLA and senior Congress leader Surender Panwar, passed away at the age of 82 at around 4.30 am on Saturday, leaving behind a profound sense of loss among his family, relatives, friends and the wider social and political community.His last rites were performed at Sundana village in Rohtak district, where he was laid to rest on his family’s agricultural land in accordance with traditional rituals. A large number of villagers, social workers, political representatives, relatives and well-wishers gathered to bid him a final farewell.Panwar devoted nearly 28 years of his professional life to the Sonipat Sugar Mill, where he served as a purchase officer. During his long tenure, he was remembered for his sincerity, dedication and sense of responsibility. Former colleagues and associates from the sugar mill also expressed their grief and recalled his professional commitment.He is survived by his son, two grandsons and three great-grandchildren. Family members remembered Panwar as a warm-hearted, humble and affectionate person who placed great importance on family values and relationships.The news of his demise brought several prominent political and social figures to Sundana. Sonipat MP Pandit Satpal Brahmachari, MLA Nikhil Madaan, former minister Chaudhary Jagbir Singh Malik, former MP Jitender Malik, former MLA Padam Singh Dahiya, former HPSC member Surender Sharma, former chairman Ashok Chhabra, Pradeep Gautam, sarpanch Dalel Singh, Ashok Koch, Rohtak district Dhaka Kab president Surender alias Bhola Dhaka, industrialist Ravinder Dhaka and Ravinder Dalal were among those who attended the last rites and paid their respects.The gathering also offered condolences to Surender Panwar and his family, sharing memories of Panwar’s simplicity, warmth and gracious nature.
