JHAJJAR: A family’s journey home after medical treatment ended in tragedy when an ambulance carrying a CISF inspector, his wife and their son rammed into a truck on the Jhajjar-Gurugram road near Pelpa village on Saturday evening.The crash claimed three lives, including that of the ambulance driver, while the couple’s son sustained multiple fractures and is undergoing treatment in an ICU.The accident took place at around 6pm near Pelpa village. The impact left the ambulance badly mangled.The deceased CISF inspector was identified as Som Prakash (59), a resident of Kachha Babra Road in Jhajjar. According to the family, Prakash had met with an accident on August 30 and had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gurugram.On Saturday, his wife Lakshmi (59) and their son Pankaj had gone to Gurugram to bring him back home after treatment. The family hired an ambulance driven by Pramod (35), a resident of Sitaram Gate, for the journey to Jhajjar.Pramod died on the spot. Som Prakash, Lakshmi and Pankaj suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital.The injured were initially taken to the civil hospital. Given their critical condition, Som Prakash and Lakshmi were referred to PGI Rohtak, where both subsequently succumbed to their injuries.Dr Ankit of Advanta Hospital said Pankaj had suffered multiple fractures and was being treated in the ICU. He was conscious and breathing normally, while his blood pressure and blood sugar were reported to be within normal range. Doctors were closely monitoring his condition.Prakash’s younger son, Preetam, has alleged negligence in the treatment provided at the Jhajjar civil hospital.According to Preetam, when his parents were referred to PGI Rohtak, no attendant was sent along with them. He also alleged that they were not provided oxygen during the transfer and accused the hospital authorities of negligence in handling the case.The hospital administration’s response to the allegations was not available in the information provided.Badli police station SHO PSI Sumit confirmed that three people had died in the accident.According to him, the ambulance driver died at the spot and his body was kept at the civil hospital. The bodies of Som Prakash and Lakshmi were kept at PGI Rohtak after they died there. Their post-mortem examinations are scheduled to be conducted on Monday.The SHO said one person, identified as Pankaj, was injured in the crash.Police have registered a case against the truck driver, who allegedly fled the scene following the accident. Teams have been conducting raids to trace and apprehend him.The investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision is underway.
