T’puram: A 69-year-old former Naxalbari movement activist died on Monday after a car allegedly travelling at high speed veered onto the roadside and knocked him down in Kallikkad. The deceased is Sainulabdeen, a native of Perumoodu.The accident occurred around 4.30pm on Sunday while Sainulabdeen was sitting on his bike and selling clothes by the roadside when the car hit him. The impact threw Sainulabdeen and Biju Kumar, who had reportedly arrived there to buy clothes, onto the road. Sainulabdeen suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to a hospital. Later, he succumbed to his injuries. Kumar suffered a shoulder fracture and was admitted to hospital.Neyyar Dam police registered a case and launched a probe.Sainulabdeen had been associated with the Naxalbari movement during his younger days.
