Rajkot: A 70-year-old woman, who claims to be the legally wedded wife of former Porbandar MLA Bhura Munja Kadchha alias Jadeja, has filed a complaint under the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act, alleging that a history-sheeter illegally occupied her family’s properties worth around Rs 1.20 crore for nearly a decade. The complaint was lodged at Kamalabag police station by Chauladevi alias Chaula Kadchha, who is currently residing in the UK. The accused, Hiralba Jadeja, is presently lodged in Junagadh jail in connection with other criminal cases.According to the FIR, Chauladevi claimed that she married Kadchha in the UK in 1986, where the marriage was officially registered. The couple had a son, Bharat, and a daughter. She claimed that in 1998, after selling a house in Porbandar’s Memanvada area, she purchased the Zaveri Bungalow in Krishna Park Society — now known as Suraj Palace — in her own name. She also purchased adjoining plots in the names of herself and her son.The family later shifted permanently to the UK, where Kadchha also resided. During this period, a TADA case was registered against him in Porbandar in 1995. According to the complaint, Hiralba, then practising as an advocate, assisted him in the criminal case and also in his political affairs.Chauladevi alleged that after Bhura Kadchha’s death in 2016, Hiralba Jadeja forcibly took possession of Suraj Palace and 13 adjoining plots. The complainant said she later obtained certified copies of the property documents, initiated probate proceedings before a court, and submitted a representation to the Porbandar district collector seeking action.Following an inquiry, the resident additional collector and member secretary of the district land-grabbing committee directed on July 10, 2026, that a criminal complaint be registered.Porbandar City deputy superintendent of police Rutu Raba said, “Hiralba Jadeja has been named in around seven criminal cases, including those involving extortion, cheating, criminal conspiracy, offences under the Arms Act and Information Technology Act, and violations of the Money Lenders Act.”
