Jalandhar: Police have arrested former Goraya municipal council president Kamaldeep Singh Bittu and two others, claiming to have seized 11 grams of heroin from them.The other accused were identified as Ramandeep Singh of Bara Pind and Sumit Kumar of Goraya. According to police, the trio was detained on suspicion while sitting in an office. During the search, the contraband was allegedly recovered from an envelope kept in the pocket of Bittu’s kurta. Bittu, who is associated with the Congress, has served multiple terms as president of the Goraya municipal council and has also headed the Goraya truck union and the Rurka block Congress unit. Police sources said Bittu had earlier been arrested in 2015 in a case related to alleged heroin consumption.
