Medical department officials recover bottles of caffeinated beverage in Bhilwara Friday

Bhilwara: The food safety wing of the medical department Friday seized 2,950 bottles of caffeinated beverage sold under the pretext of energy drinks during an inspection carried out under the ‘Shuddh Aahar, Milawat Par Vaar’ campaign in Bhilwara.The bottles of the ‘Sting’ brand caffeinated beverage were recovered from Manoj Enterprises during the inspection, officials said.Officials said samples of the seized product were collected and sent to the state laboratory in Ajmer for testing. Further legal action will be taken after the test reports are received.Chief medical and health officer (CMHO) Dr Sanjeev Kumar Sharma said the action was taken in accordance with directions issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).He said FSSAI guidelines prohibit misleading claims such as “energy drink” or “sports drink” on caffeinated beverages. The department is conducting inspections across the district to ensure compliance with food safety standards and prevent consumers from being misled.
