JAIPUR: A video capturing the moment reporters confronted 23-year-old Ayushi Sharma outside a police station has surfaced online, showing her offering no response as she was repeatedly questioned over her alleged role in orchestrating her mother’s murder.In the clip, reporters can be heard asking Ayushi directly — “Are you guilty?, why did you kill her” and “When did you start planning this, how many days did it take?” — questions she allegedly met with silence, her expression showing no remorse.Ayushi was arrested along with six others, including her paternal uncle Mohan Swaroop, 56, and alleged contract killer Hemant Sharma, 20, for allegedly plotting the murder of her widowed mother, Neeraj Sharma, 45, in a scheme police say was driven by property and a compassionate government job.According to police, Ayushi hired Hemant for Rs 7 lakh to kill her mother and stage the murder as a hit-and-run. The plan was allegedly hatched over three months and executed on July 3, when an SUV travelling at nearly 130 kmph rammed into Neeraj in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar locality, throwing her nearly 100 feet and killing her on the spot. CCTV footage of the impact was released by police.Investigators said Neeraj’s husband, a court clerk, had died a year earlier, after which she secured a compassionate government appointment in his place — the same job police say Ayushi wanted for herself. “Ayushi blamed her mother for ruining her future by not letting her get the govt job,” an officer said.Police said Neeraj had grown fearful of her daughter in the weeks before her death, confiding in her brother that Ayushi was “going down a very dangerous path.” That brother’s complaint triggered the investigation that led to Tuesday’s arrests.One accused, Ayushi’s cousin Balram, remains absconding.
