DoneHyderabad: Aspirants have raised concerns over an alleged preference for lateral entry over direct recruitment of assistant professors under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME).In a representation submitted to the DME, Dr A Narendra Kumar, candidates urged authorities to strictly adhere to the recruitment process outlined in GO No. 154. As per the order, in every cycle of five vacancies, three posts must be filled through direct recruitment, followed by one post for in-service candidates and one through transfer from the non-teaching category. The aspirants also cited a ruling by the Telangana high court, which clearly directed that recruitment should be carried out in a sequential (seriatim) manner as prescribed in the GO, and not in reverse. Highlighting the importance of maintaining fairness and transparency, the doctors said any deviation from the prescribed sequence could adversely impact eligible candidates and disturb the balance intended under the rules. They demanded that the direct recruitment process be completed first, and that lateral absorption of in-service doctors be taken up only thereafter. The aspirants further warned that ignoring the laid-down norms and judicial directions could lead to avoidable legal complications, and urged authorities to ensure a rule-bound and transparent recruitment process.
