Buxar: A six-day Short-Term Faculty Development Programme (FDP) started at Government Engineering College (GEC), Buxar, from Monday. The programme is being conducted by the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, IIT-Patna, in collaboration with Bihar Engineering University.The FDP was inaugurated by chief guest T N Singh, director IIT-Patna. In his address, he highlighted the importance of such training programmes in equipping faculty members with modern teaching methodologies, current research developments, and emerging technological innovations. He emphasised that these initiatives significantly contribute to strengthening the quality of technical education.Principal Ram Naresh Rai, GEC, highlighted the institution’s progress towards academic excellence and professional development.Coordinator of the programme is S K Parida from IIT-Patna, while Abhinav Kumar Singh is serving as the college coordinator for the FDP.On Monday, four sessions were held—two delivered by Parida and two by Abhinav.A total of 87 participants have registered for the FDP. Around 55 faculty members attended offline while the remaining joined via online.At the institution level, the FDP is being coordinated through the collective efforts of assistant professor Vidya Rashmi (FDP coordinator), HoD of Electrical Engineering Utkarsh Raj, assistant professor Sushmita Rani Lal and assistant professor Chandrabhanu Kumar.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by associate professor R N Yadav who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, resource persons, organisers, and participants for their contributions.
