Srinagar, Aug 25: At an age when most children are still discovering the joy of play, five-year-old Mir Amaal Madani is already learning the discipline of balance, flexibility and determination—and dreaming of taking Kashmir to the national and international Yogasana stage.

Amaal recently caught attention after winning a silver medal at the 7th Srinagar District Yogasana Championship, held at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, marking an encouraging beginning to what could be a remarkable sporting journey.

For the little champion, however, the silver is not the destination. It is only the beginning.

With remarkable confidence for her age, Amaal says her dream is to win gold at bigger competitions and make her parents proud.

“It is very difficult to be on your back, but I have the full support of my parents and trainers. My aim is to earn gold at the national and international levels for Kashmir and make my parents proud,” Amaal said.

Her words may sound ambitious coming from a five-year-old, but her determination is already visible in the way she approaches the sport. Her ability to maintain balance, follow instructions and perform Yogasana postures at such a young age has begun attracting attention.

Her father, Tabraiz Madani, says the family wants to give Amaal every possible opportunity to excel.

“We want our daughter to excel and pursue her passion. We will support her at every step and provide her with whatever she needs to move forward,” he said.

For the Madani family, Amaal’s journey is not merely about medals. It is about giving a young child the confidence to dream big and the opportunity to represent Kashmir beyond its borders.

National Yogasana coach Zubaida has also praised Amaal’s talent and enthusiasm, saying the five-year-old has shown exceptional promise for her age.

“Amaal is a very promising young talent. At such a young age, the confidence, discipline and interest she has shown in Yogasana are remarkable. If she continues to receive the right training and encouragement, she can achieve great things in the sport,” Zubaida said.

She said early exposure, proper guidance and a supportive environment can help young athletes like Amaal realise their potential while enjoying the sport.

For now, Amaal remains a five-year-old with a bright smile, a big dream and a growing love for Yogasana.

Her silver medal may be small enough to fit into her little hands, but the dream attached to it is enormous—to stand on bigger podiums, hear Kashmir’s name and make her parents proud.

The silver may be her first milestone. For Amaal, the real dream is to turn it into gold—and carry Kashmir with her to the national and international stage.
