Ganderbal, August 25: In view of the risks associated with bathing and swimming in Nallah Sindh and other water bodies across the district, the Ganderbal administration has issued a public advisory urging residents, particularly parents and guardians, to remain vigilant and prevent children from entering unsafe water bodies.
The advisory, issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal comes amid concerns over the safety of people, especially children, who venture into rivers, streams and other water bodies for bathing or swimming.
The administration has specifically advised parents and guardians to strictly prevent children from entering or bathing in Nallah Sindh and other nallahs and water bodies. They have also been asked to keep children under close supervision, particularly during holidays and leisure hours when they may be more likely to visit such locations.
The advisory cautions that deep, fast-flowing and unpredictable water bodies can pose serious risks. Parents have been urged to explain these dangers to children and discourage them from swimming or bathing at unprotected and unsafe locations.
The administration further stressed that children should not be allowed to go near water bodies without responsible adult supervision.
The advisory has been circulated to various departments and authorities, including the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, SDM Kangan, Tehsildars, District Information Officer, Municipal Council Ganderbal and the District Control Room, for information and necessary action.
The administration has also directed the concerned authorities to ensure wide publicity of the advisory so that the message reaches residents, particularly families living in areas close to Nallah Sindh and other water bodies.
The move comes as a precautionary measure to prevent accidents and ensure that residents, especially children, remain cautious while visiting water bodies across Ganderbal district.
