Kanpur: A swarm of bees attacked people travelling to a funeral in the Bakewar police station area of Etawah, injuring 5, including the deceased’s son. The injured were taken to a private hospital. One young man was later referred to the district hospital after his condition turned critical. The incident caused panic among those attending the funeral.The injured included 19-year-old Lavkush, son of late Upendra Singh of Rajpura village in the Bakewar area. It was reported that Upendra Singh died of a heart attack on Friday.On Saturday at around 1pm, Lavkush and his family ravelled in a trolley to Takrupura Ghat on Chakarnagar Road for the last rites when a swarm of bees attacked .The sudden attack caused panic. Apart from Lavkush, Pushpendra, Nandu, Naresh and Shiv Veer from the village were also injured by bee stings. As their condition began to deteriorate after being stung in multiple places, the family members rushed them to a private hospital in Lakhna for treatment.After primary treatment, Lavkush’s condition worsened further, and doctors referred him to the district hospital. Family members took him there, where treatment started under doctors’ supervision, and he was admitted at around 3.30 pm.Lavkush’s cousin Ankit said that Lavkush is the only son of his parents. He said the family was already in deep shock due to the father’s death, and the incident during the funeral left family members and villagers shaken.
