T’puram: Vizhinjam coastal police filed charges against fishermen for blocking the ship channel at Adani port early on Tuesday. Eight fishing boats were spotted in the channel around 4am, prompting port authorities to alert marine enforcement. Despite requests to relocate, the fishermen refused to move, leading to a confrontation with officials. After several hours, the fishermen finally relocated, but the ship’s journey was delayed. Police charged the fishermen under BNS Section 296(b) and Section 117(e) of Kerala Police Act for obstructing officers.
