T’puram: A 36-year-old fisherman died after collapsing while engaged in shore seine fishing off the Vizhinjam coast on Tuesday. The deceased is Robinson of Puthiyathura.According to Vizhinjam Coastal police Robinson, who was part of a 15-member crew engaged in shore seine fishing off Valiyaveli, collapsed and fell. Fellow fishermen immediately rushed to his aid and brought him ashore before shifting him to the Vizhinjam community health centre. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival, police said.The body was later shifted for postmortem examination. Police said the preliminary information indicates that he may have suffered a medical episode while at sea.Robinson is survived by his parents, Sebastian and Alphonsa, and his brother, Robin.Police have registered a case under Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) provisions relating to an unnatural death and initiated further proceedings. After completing the inquest and postmortem examination, the body was handed over to the relatives.
