Mysuru: Krishnaraja police in the city have registered an FIR against four persons following a complaint by a 73-year-old Bengaluru resident, who has raised suspicions over the death of his wife 28 years ago. He has also alleged misuse of properties and financial assets in her name.The complainant is Prasad NN, a resident of Basaveshwara Nagar in Bengaluru, and a cyclist who has travelled to several countries for 26 years. He told the police that he married Mysuru resident Padmaja in 1988.According to his complaint, Padmaja died on Dec 29, 1998, when she was visiting her parents’ house in Mysuru.Prasad said his well-wishers and relatives had told him that Padmaja was healthy when she visited her parents’ house, “therefore, her death is highly suspicious”.According to the FIR, Prasad’s father-in-law died in April 2010. During a subsequent conversation with one of his wife’s family members, Prasad came to know that his wife’s death had been kept secret allegedly for unlawful gains.He further alleged that a PAN card had been obtained in Padmaja’s name, and that a portion of the dividends from shares held in her name had also been received. However, Prasad said he initially did not pursue the matter, and left for the US again.The complainant has also alleged that properties, ornaments and original documents belonging to his father-in-law were missing and suspected that they had been stolen or misused.Based on the complaint, Krishnaraja police have registered a case against four persons under sections 130, 318, 318(4), 319 and 340 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)-2023.
