Kanpur: An FIR was finally registered on Sunday evening against six named and two unidentified persons, including the husband, after a court order in a case involving a married woman who was allegedly beaten over dowry and thrown from a roof after opposing her husband’s alleged illicit relations, leaving her with fractures to her arm and spine in Kannauj.The complaint was filed by Prakash, a resident of Phoolpur village in the Sadar Kotwali area, who said his daughter Kavita was married to Nankaram, a resident of Sujatnagar village in the Chhibramau area, seven years ago.Prakash said that two years after the marriage, Nankaram and his family began harassing Kavita over insufficient dowry. He alleged that on July 9, when she opposed her husband’s illicit relations, Nankaram, Govind Michkuna, Rajkumari and mother-in-law Shashi locked Kavita in a room and brutally beat her.He alleged that Kavita somehow escaped and reached the roof, but the accused threw her down, leaving her seriously injured with fractures to her arm and spine.Prakash said that despite submitting complaints at the police station and the SP’s office, no action was taken, following which he approached the court. Police registered the FIR on the court’s order.Inspector Kotwali Jitendra Pratap Singh said action would be taken after an investigation.
