Kanpur: The Hindu Adhyatmic Evam Sewa Mela, scheduled from Nov 26 to 30, will focus on six key issues, including forest and wildlife conservation, ecological balance, women’s respect and expression, and patriotism, organisers said on Monday. The five-day event will be organised on a large scale, with different teams assigned responsibilities for its preparations.A meeting to review preparations for the event was held on Monday, attended by S Guru Murti, former Reserve Bank of India director and founder of the mela. Various responsibilities were assigned to different teams.Meeting convener Navendu Shukla said the mela would focus on forest and wildlife conservation, ecological conservation, environmental balance, women’s respect and expression, and patriotism. He said various departments had been entrusted with specific responsibilities.Addressing the meeting, Guru Murti said Hindu philosophy was not confined to India but had relevance across the world. Stressing the need for social harmony, he said bringing different groups together was one of the biggest requirements of the present time. Differences, he added, could be resolved through communication and coordination.Guru Murti said the mela was established in 2009 by the Hindu Spiritual and Service Foundation with the objective of bringing positive social change and eliminating caste-based discrimination.Emphasising family values, he said the family was the basic unit of society and stressed the need to inculcate moral values among children, respect for elders and a sense of responsibility towards family.Referring to a recent protest in Delhi, Guru Murti claimed that Gen Z participation was limited and alleged that abusive language used during the protest was intended to project a particular image of India before the world.Shukla said Indian Gen Z had deep-rooted connections with family and society. He noted that while only around three per cent of entrepreneurs earlier belonged to this generation, the figure had now increased to nearly 15 per cent.
